4 Common foods in your Kitchen you can start growing today : Survival Garden Series 1

Updated: Aug 3, 2020

Hey sacred sisters this is blog one of my diy survival garden. I been practicing every summer since 2012 growing different herbs vegetables and fruits so when the time came my green thumb would be ready. Well I think now is the time, being in the wake of a pandemic and people scrambling to make sure they have what they need if they have to be home bound, having home grown food will give me just that one peace of mind in the midst of this chaos.

WHAT TO START WITH?

I decided on potatoes, sweet potatoes, celery, and onions. Potatoes and sweet potatoes because they are filling and a base for many dishes. Celery simply because I had one in the fridge and they are easy to grow and lastly purple onions because I just simply love purple onions.

HOW TO GERMINATE?

Well, you can just simply leave your potatoes in a cool dry place and they will begin growing spouts. I am sure you have forgotten about some potatoes and probably seen this already , as well as many other vegetables. If you haven't and you want to speed up the process then just cut the potatoe in half placing the cut side in shallow water and put near a window and wait...

DAY ONE OF GEMINATION

The onion and celery are alittle different as you cut them but place the root part in the water. Oh and meet my yorkipoo Peppermint Rose...She is waiting for me to come outside. Okay then see you on week two...Can't wait!

WHATS IN STORE FOR NEXT WEEK?
