How to Grow Potatoes in Containers : Survival Garden Series 2

Updated: Aug 4, 2020

Hey sacred sisters remember those potatoes I sliced in half and began the sprouting process well they are doing quite well. However I decided to make a few changes in this blog for starters instead of week one week two etc. I am gonna use part 1, part 2 etc because due to my work sometime the blog won't be done exactly in a week. The second change is what I am growing . I am sticking with the Potato which seems to be very easy to sprout and grows well.

WHERE ARE WE NOW?

Second is Lettuce. I am adding lettuce because I had some that starting growing from last year and it is doing quite well. The Sweet Potato is still in the running as it beginning to grow slips and the leaves of the sweet potato can be used as greens.

The Purple Onion is slowly sprouting so I will continue with the onion and lastly Watermelon because my husband been raving about the many benefits so I am gonna grow them again. I gave it a shot last year and it grew minimally. This year I have learned a few tricks.

Well, you can just simply leave your potatoes in a cool dry place and they will begin growing spouts. I am sure you have forgotten about some potatoes and probably seen this already , as well as many other vegetables. If you haven't and you want to speed up the process then just cut the potato in half placing the cut side in shallow water and put near a window and wait...

HOW TO Plant your Potatoes?

After you see your potato sprout for a week or two, you are ready to plant.

Get your container and put in several layers of dirt, then place several sprouted potatoes with flat side on dirt. Make sure to leave a potato space or two in between each sprouted potato.

Next cover with dirt and water daily. Make sure to place container in direct sun light.

WATCH YOUR POTATO GROW!

This is approximately two weeks after planing the potato buds and watering with plant food a hydrogen peroxide solution. Half Water and Half Hydrogen Peroxide ( once a week) this allows more oxygen ion to get to the roots and it proves well because this plant literally grew over night. Water daily with regular water and make sure there is plenty of sun light.

WHAT IN STORE FOR NEXT WEEK?
